What is the average cost for a commission? How long will I have to wait for it?
The cost and the length of time to finish a commission depends on the complexity and materials used. Time and price will be something we agree on before I start working on the commission. As a frame of reference, most manuscripts can be done in two weeks or less if I am not backed up.

What are your shipping & handling fees? What mailing service do you usually use?
I do not charge a handling fee and I do not make any profit on shipping so however much it costs to ship is what I charge. As far as mailing service I can use USPS Priority Mail, UPS, or FEDEX; I will leave that preference up to you. However, if the you have no preference I will use USPS Priority Mail.

Do you have any commissions you won’t take?
I will not do any of the following:

Nothing overly gory. I have no problem painting battle scenes or illustrating scripts from Beowulf or anything like that, but I will not do scenes of graphic torture or anything ridiculously morbid, like people dancing around wearing guts for garters.

No pornography. I do not mind a scene with partial or complete nudity, e.g.:

• The bathing of Bathsheba or scenes depicting Adam and Eve,
• Medieval medical diagrams,
• Recreations of scenes from Roman or Greek myths.

Nothing glorifying the demonic. I do not mind drawing things such as Saint Michael the Archangel casting out Satan or scenes of that nature. I will also draw demons from biblical stories such as the driving of a demon out of a possessed person or as a representation of a person’s temptation or “personal demon.” There are also prayers which call for protection like in the Lord’s Prayer/Pater Noster: “deliver us from evil.” On a side note I do not mind the representation of Death if used in the context such as prayers for the sick and dying or scenes showing battles or plagues.

I reserve the right to refuse work if I am not comfortable with the subject matter.

Do you just recreate medieval manuscripts?
Most of my work and research is in the area of Medieval European and Middle Eastern art but I also can reproduce Ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Greek art as well. Recently I have begun to dabble in some of the traditional forms of art from India.
